- the + 名詞 + 片語 、 子句
ex. The walls on the inside were nicely whitewashed. (牆壁的內部粉刷得很漂亮)

- by the + 單位
ex. Meat is sold by the gram. (賣肉以公克為單位)
- 雙方都明白的人或物
